Why?

Why does the United States have to do anything? http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/07/18/us-syria-crisis-usa-idUSBRE86H1ET20120718

When did we take the Syrians to raise? For years we've bad mouthed Assad.  Now we want to save him.

"The window is closing, we need to take action in a unified way to help bring about the transition that the Syrian people so deserve," White House spokesman Jay Carney said at a news conference.

This is Washington speak for, "we want to be in control of what happens in Syria".

Why not let the Syrians duke it out for them selves.  All we'll do by engaging in a power struggle with Russia or any of the factions in that area is piss them off, waste Billions of dollars, and, probably, in the end, waste the blood and lives of military and civilian people for something we'll regret.

We certainly need a government that does less.

Domino

Is this the first major federal domino?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390444097904577535322022316422.html?mod=WSJ_hppMIDDLENexttoWhatsNewsSecond

The USPS has been hemorrhaging money like blood from a botched backstreet abortion for years.
Is it time to pull the plug?
Anything I need to send anywhere, if it can't be done electronically, I use Fedex.  Does it cost more?  Yes, but I'll gladly spend the few extra shekels to promptness and security.

Like many another federal program the USPS as is presently structured is doomed.  Eleven Billion each year is mandated they put into retirement accounts and retirement health accounts.  That's with a B .

Wouldn't it make more sense to phase out those payments.  Require the remaining employees to pay into a retirement account that they will own and control such as is the social security program in Chile.  While you might think Chile is a third world country, their social security program is a diamond in a world of gravel.

What will be next?  Already cities all over the country are either declaring bankruptcy, or thinking seriously.

It's coming.

Are you ready?

Seriously?

Really?

POTUS meets with Jerry Springer

and we're supposed to take him seriously?

Idiots

Leftest idiots in Cali-fucked up are considering a plan to Condemn Mortgages.
Condemn them........take them over from the lawful holders of the legal Contracts, in effect, to seize the property of the legal owners and do what they think is in the best public interest with the government becoming the owners.

Just following the thief-in-charge Barrack who stole a large part of General Motors.

Check it out below.

Walking in the grass

I wonder if anybody ever stops by here any more.
Seems like when I come by I get distracted by reading those blogs I like and forget that I can throw up bits of wit and wisdom myself.  Well the wisdom is mostly in my own mind and the wit is of the dim kind.
The Kudzu Wife (KW) and I have been attempting to adapt to living in our new place of course.  Slowly I'm getting a few things done around here.  (very slowly it seems)   I've gotten a few panels of picket fence painted and put up along the front.  About 100' out of 400'.  I'm painting them before putting them up since they'll be backed by the 12' Leyland Cypress between us and the road.  If I paint one side of a panel and place it against the wall to dry on one side of the shed and the back side of another panel on the other side, I can get 3 to 4 a day done, letting the paint dry before laying another panel against it.
Finally we got a wall unit heat pump for the Green Room ( it has green carpet, which the wife isn't too keen on, hence the name).  I've moved the living room furniture in there.  The old living room will become in time the formal sitting room when we've found the right antiques to fill it.
We've a solitary apple tree in the yard.  Neglected for who knows how many years we were only able to get the bottom part pruned before warm weather sat in early this year.  I walked out thru the bermuda grass barefoot and picked one of the few apples this evening.  Walking barefoot in the grass eating one of your own apples has to be one of God's little gifts.

Earlier today I did a little practicing with one of these beauties.

High Standard Supermatic Citation Military Model 107 .22 long rifle.  6 1/4 inch fluted barrel.

After bore sighting with laser boresight tool @ 50 ft was far more accurate than the guy squeezing the trigger.  I'm convinced with a gun rest this baby would put a full clip in a hole that would fit under a quarter at that range.  They took many an international championship back in the day.  It's tapped for barrel weights and machined to take muzzle brake.

Me like.........Me want

We've had a good bit of rain the last few days.  Three inches on Thursday night.  The pooch is hiding under the desk right now because of rumbles off in the distance.

On my last post I mentioned second chances.  I guess no matter how old you get you're never too old for one of those.

Life is good my friends.  Don't let the bastards tell you otherwise.  It's all about how you perceive it.

Blackberry briars, Sweet Georgia Peaches and Pine Saps

I thought I'd broken my drought here at the Kudzu Patch the other day with a post on why I left the pine limb I'd been sitting on.
Turns out that since I'm too smart to read up on the new Blogger dashboard I mistakenly posted it on Second Chances, a blog I deserted some time ago.  It and another I put up tonight.
Seems too much trouble to try to move them.  If you want to see you can go to http://kdzu.blogspot.com/

Maybe I need some second chances myself.

Time will tell.

Far Sight

I think I was 10, maybe 11, the first time I climbed a  silo.  My dad would have busted my ass for sure, had he caught me in the middle of the climb.  For doing such a dangerous thing, he'd say, but probably for near giving him a heart attack if the truth be known.  But he was himself no stranger to attempting new things, so, just maybe, a little bit of pride that I had a bit of himself in me.

I was a smallish kid, hell, who am I kidding, I was damn near the runt of my class up until I took a growth spurt in the 11th grade.  That includes all the girls too.  So to climb a 60 ft. tall silo, where the steel rods circling it were over 2 1/2 feet apart once you got above 20 feet up, was something of a stretch for me.  Good thing I didn't weigh too much.  My scrawny arms could each pull me up once I got my fingers around the next ring.  Today they wouldn't hold half my ass off the ground.

But, I was young, lean and uncaring of the height.  I just wanted to get to the top.  Every ring higher brought new vistas to my sight.  I could see over the cow shed,  out over the coastal bermuda pasture, to the creek beyond, to the alfalfa field, to the far trees.  All familiar, yet completely different from my new found prospective.  A new world, with heretofore unseen places to be explored.  And I did.

Every since, I've loved being up high, able to see farther, more, new. Possibly one reason I wanted to fly for the army.

I still have a desire to own one of the old fire towers.

There are quite a few of them still around here in NE Georgia.  Most are locked so you can't climb to the top, mostly abandoned since the proliferation of small aircraft flying around enables quicker detection and locating of forest fires, but every time I drive past one, that urge to be up high, to see farther than those pitiable ground crawlers, strikes, filling my imagination with what wonders could be seen from up there.

Maybe this explains some of my desire in these somewhat unsettled economic and political times, to think on what might be, good or ill, and to desire to know ahead of time, like the fire watchers of yesterday, what is coming, to be able to shout a warning, or simply to radio, "all is calm, no problems to be seen, wow what a view".

If I were young again..........I'd go climb a pine tree.

Just Damn!

When I don't post for a while (3 wks or so)  I come back to find that blogger has completely revamped the dashboard where these rantings and ravings are composed with great attention to punctuation, grammar and all those other things the english teachers in high school cracked my knuckles about.

All I wanted to do is let folks know that my email (which I thought was posted in the About Me section), was not.

I have corrected that oversight.  This may result in more spam and ads for male enhancement, which I may need, but the fact of four (count 'em) 4 children shows that I've had sex at least 4 times in my life and any inadequacies were not sufficient to prohibit getting the job done.  Of course I am well trained in the art of artificial insemination.

So, if anyone wishes to converse outside the comment section, please avail yourself of the email link.

House keeping aside, it's been hot and dry here for the last few days.  Actually the dry part stretches back much farther than has been good for the ecological health of the local flora.  Cranking the lawnmower automatically creates a cloud of good red Georgia dust that covers everything in the area.

We watered Kathrine and the other flowers today.  I found the sprinkler while trying to arrange some of the mess in the Man Cave.  Of course the mechanism on the sprinkler which caused it to wave back and forth broke on the first wave and we could only water in one direction.  But the Gladiolas and roses seems a little brighter for the effort.  Tomorrow I may water the Tomatoes.

I sure hope they bloom this year, but since they were only planted 6 weeks ago I'm having my doubts.

Oh yes, does anyone have and atomic powered post hole digger.  That may be the only way to get a hole of more than two inches deep dug here at the Periwinkle farm.

I'm Rich!!!

The Kudzu Wife (KW) has been having a grand time finding previously undiscovered flowers and plants around the New Place (NP). From the large single white Iris to Tulips, Daffodils and Wisteria, to dozens of Purple Plum sprouts along with the Carolina Jasmine and other plants we have no idea of (apparently some of the previous owners were gardening enthusiasts), it is a discovery of moment each day.

This afternoon she pointed out a Manzanita. Don't know if it is one of This Breed but, if so, I'm gonna sit back and collect the monthly checks for tending it. (by which I mean that I'll not piss on it at night when I go out to water the oak trees.

Think the law is your friend?

You need to seriously reconsider that assumption.

Before the sun set on July 29, 2010, Diane Avera was in the Marengo County Jail, where she would remain for forty days. At one point she was shackled to a restraint chair for 17 hours. During that time she was denied water or access to a bathroom. She also developed edema in her feet. Edema-related blood clots have been identified as the cause of death for several of the inmates who have perished while chained to the “Devil’s Chair.”

Attitude adjustment??

We've now slept in the New place for a week. My bed is as comfortable as at the old place and no more willing to eject me kicking and screaming at sunrise.

Now however, as in days of yore, I don't have to go to work. When my feet hit the floor.......
here I am.

Having recently reached the age of drawing my sociable security (oxymoron) the thoughts of, "what if the gubbermint cuts ss out, or, more likely, continues to pay, only with rapidly depreciating $'s?"

Truthfully, I'd feel it, but it would only inspire harder work.

Eric Peters @ http://ericpetersautos.com/2012/04/06/anti-authoritarianism-starts-within/

puts it in perspective.

We've been the victims of of a massive ponzy scheme and wholesale robbery for the past 76 years. And every year the thieves grow more bold and audacious, extracting more and more from their gullible victims to the point that now we willingly and gladly hold our moth filled purses out for their plundering, hoping that we'll live long enough to be the eventual recipients of their Robin Hood largess, ignoring the fact that Robin always keeps most for himself and his Gay band and we'll get the crumbs.

Interesting reading for an early morning, but since I've been harping on it for 30 + years and still gladly find my pittance in the bank once a month, I'm as much a thief as the rest.

As the old song goes..

.."We just moved in our new house today..."

Actually it was last night. After moving the bed, the tv, the couch and love seat, much other stuff also, and all the stuff we've moved over the past months, last night was the night.

We left the old house after 6pm and headed into the east, where lurked a big dark storm cloud. Thankfully it was moving away from us, and as we were approaching Royston there emerged the biggest double rainbow ahead of us.

I told the kudzu wife that it was sitting over our new place and sure enough as we were about 1/4 mile down the road you could see that, indeed, I was right. A good omen you'd think, and we did. Then, we walked in to the house. Hot, only eighty......but, the air had been working when we left keeping a nice 72 degrees. Air conditioner out. I have no idea what might be wrong. Thankfully almost every room has high ceiling and fans. With the windows open and the fans moving the air around we were able to tolerate the head and indeed, before morning I'd pulled the sheet over me. Hopefully the people at the AC office will be here this afternoon.

It's beginning....

.....to look a lot less like home around here.

We've been slowly moving those things that not necessary for day to day life from here to the New Place. Today we moved the gun cabinet, the filing cabinet, the washer and dryer, the chest of drawers, the kitchen table and the best sleeping and rocking e-z-boy in the world, plus most of the canned goods in the pantry and cereal and spices in the cabinets.

The phone guy is supposed to show up at the New Place in the morning between 8:00 and 12:00, which means that I get to arise early and make the trek in order to wait upon their timing. Seems to be something wrong with the service provider and the payment provider paradigm here.

The phone and internet will be stopped here on Thursday, and since we can't live for even a moment with out either will of necessity be living there no later than Thursday and likely sooner. Then I won't have to get up here, have a nice cuppa coffee and decide when to go work on the New Place, I'll just wake up in the middle of a project for a long time. More will get done and progress will be visible, if only slightly more than now.

We found a huge white Iris there today. The youngest grand daughter said it was almost as tall as her. Little surprises like that are nice. No picture.........the camera is, of course, not at this place.

Oh Yeah!

Let's Escalate the Situation.

That always work's good.

Friday, March 30, 2012

Ouch!

Lower left back, right at the top of the tail bone. Longish drives will do that to me. Left at 9, got back about 6. Got in 4 productive visits and one worthless visit with the ox in the story of the ox and the ass, wherein I refuse to play the ass.

So no working on the New Place........I'm thinking of naming it Periwinkle Farm, because of the profusion of said flowers all around the house and man cave. I've been saving a 36 inch cut off saw blade for just such a sign, somehow knowing in the back of my mind that I'd be able to find a use for it one day.

We've had a few small sprinkles here tonight. Just enough to wet my socks when stepping out upon the back deck.

In visiting my usual suspects in the blog-o-sphere this evening ran across this.......

At Pissed's place

Putting things in perspective.

Posting has been mighty sparse around here lately. Sprucing up the new Old Place has taken a goodly bit of time. Not helping of course is the 45 min drive one way to get there and then back. I think it will be worth it though and since the phone man is supposed to come on Monday (between 8:00 am and 12 noon, and they'll cut the service here on the following Thursday I think I can predict with a fair degree of certainty that we'll be sleeping down there next week.

Then of course I can make the drive in this direction fixing up this place for the new tenant/purchaser. Thankfully not too much to do, just clean up and new carpet for the bedrooms.

I'm also thankful that the young lady next door wants to move out of her mom and dad's place but not too far and that she's willing to make the payments until she can get a new loan on this place.

In today's market that's like manna from Heaven.

Still we'll have the world economic troubles to think about. But, not nearly as much as I have been. We'll either have O'bama regular or O'bama lite in charge of the White House after Nov. and depending on your point of view, and the occupant there in, nothing much will change or things will slide even faster down the hill to Hell.

Probably helped along by politicians refusal to listen to the voices of common sense.

Like this guy.

Whatever.......

Free people will do well to just ignore TPTB and start enjoying their lives again. As someone needs to say..........

Fuck 'em all, the long, the short and the tall.

The Constitution

Void where considered inconvenient.

If you don't consider this statement treason, you're ignorant......or part of the problem.

There is a very good reason that the Founders tied down the federal government with the Constitution and the Bill of rights. They understood very well that government unrestrained would soon become the very Evil that they had pledged their lives, their fortunes, their Sacred Honor to defeat.

The beast has been off it's leash for far too long. Re-attaching that leash and bringing the beast to heel may now be almost impossible.

Everything depends on whose will is stronger. Citizens wills stand in serious need of some PX90 training.

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

What price do you place on your Sacred Honor?

Perhaps a question we should all ask ourselves.

Go read Daniel Greenfield , then come back and discuss.

Is O'bama a Shiite?

Interesting read.

Fluked

It seems that a certain 3rd year law student at Georgetown University wants all you taxpayers to help her do what it seems she does quite well, and often. One wonders when she finds the time to study.

All without offering to even give us a kiss or a friendly pat on the head.

A future lawyer. That figures......... they spend years of time and hundreds of thousands of dollars learning how to screw everyone. Then they get themselves elected to Congress.

President O'bama is very proud of her. I'm sure her parents are also.
