Twilight

here at the kudzu grotto...........everything is quite and still. Through the tall oaks, with their immature leaves still straining to grow into a decent shade, I can see over the stand of pines across the road the last glow of the sun wrapping around the horizon providing a faint.....last bit of light.
The sky is that clear royal blue of a cloudless night, dotted here and there by the stars bright enough to twinkle their blue white light down through the years that separate us.
So quite........ and the wind so light that you have to stand absolutely still in order to feel it............that you can almost imagine there are no problems in the world.

Yet, movement toward the door brings the racket-ing of the Big Eye in the corner of the living room.............Talking heads with their subtle messages, warning us against non-conformity. Political aspirants declaring what is good for us.
Idiots still pander to the Barbarians at the gates.

Sometimes I think my Dalmatian old maid bitch, with her one brown eye and one blue, is a much more content creature than we. Almost makes me want to crawl into to her 55 gallon barrel.....lined with fresh ceder shavings and wheat straw......and get away from the world for a while. Let the rage and *RCOBOE dissolve away with thoughts of the next ham bone coming our way.
