Exercising

I actually got out and exercised a little this afternoon.

I walked about 3 blocks from my parking space (cursing the fact that I'm old and out of shape and that I should have worn my other shoes) to the TEA Party in front of the Arches in downtown Athens that mark the entrance to the University of Georgia.

But that's not the exercise I'm writing about tonight.

I'm talking about the fact that I exercised my rights under The Constitution of the United States as enumerated in The Bill of Rights.

First...Amendment I;

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I used my freedom of speech to communicate with the people around me and express my opinions. We did assemble peaceably...and even allowed the communist workers party to exercise their right after they showed up across the street about the time the TEA Party was over. Which lead myself and many of the others to hang around and make fun of them. I also..along with other availed myself of the privilege of petitioning my elected representatives (some of whom were present and participating themselves) for a redress of grievances.

Second....Amendment II;

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Nothing really needs to be said here, except that I did so lawfully and safely. No one was harmed in my exercising of this right.

Third....Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I felt perfectly secure, even though the officers in law were observed riding past in their vehicles and even moved the aforementioned idiots off of the island in the middle of the street. Apparently they had no permit for a street protest and had to move back to the opposite sidewalk where they didn't impede traffic.

Forth.....Amendment X;

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

I reminded myself that The People rights do not come from the government...rather the government has powers granted to it by THE PEOPLE whose rights come from their Creator.

It felt good.

I estimate the crown there to be about 250 or so. Not too bad for a demonstration in the heart of possibly the second most liberal city in Georgia.

There was (gratifyingly) a large percentage of young people there. It is after all a college town. But there were also octogenarians and I saw children as young as about six. There were businessmen, I recognized a lawyer or two. Rednecked farmers and their wives as well as young couples who looked like they may have (or still are) served in our military.

There was no violence (unless you call a little good natured heckling of the workers party crowd), no attempts to deny anyone their free exercise of any of their rights, just good people on both sides of the issue doing what more of us should have been doing all along.

I took a lot of pictures but will only post a couple picked at random. (clicky-click if you want to see them bigger.

There may be something to the advice to get out and exercise...I just might try to do a bit more of it.

True love

Scammers seem to be coming out of the woodworks and Washington, DC by the thousands these days.

Why just this morning I received an invitation to a relationship by a very nice young lady.

Here...I'll just post her lovely letter to me so you can judge for yourself....

As you might imagine I was most interested in the potentialities that might lie lurking in such a letter. Especially the opportunities to have a big ol' belly laugh at someone else expense.

Please.....any of you lonely people out there feel free to communicate with this young lady. I'm sure the possible comic benefits will be obvious to you.

Herewith: My reply

Miss Helen,
You sound like a very delightful and pleasant lady, and any lonely man would be proud to know you. However, I must tell you that in my experience long distance relationships do not work our for the lonely man because of the distance to which his member must be stretched, as well as his gullibility. Which I am sure you know can be stretched a long way, but what would happen if a band of Somali Pirates attacked while it was strung out that far. It would be difficult to reel it in fast enough to avoid potentially serious damage.

Additionally I am from an older generation than you and it is customary for the brides parents and family to pay the groom a dowry of 2 kilograms of fine gold before the nuptial planning can take place. This is not a thing to be taken lightly and no relationship can proceed unless it has been paid in hand in the grooms country of origin.

Of course all of us here would be very anxious to meet you and your cousins, and if you are ever going to be in the neighborhood, please to let me know so as I can make a trip down to Franklins to stock up for the visit.

Looking forward to your next most excellent reply princess.
Sincerely

Kdzu

By the way....she had responded to an advertisement on craigslist.com where I was advertising a 5 cttw 14kt tennis bracelet.

And she was not the first scammer....just the first to offer to marry me.

Well there was the one woman at the flea market who offered to marry me for a little while in exchange.

I still have the bracelet.

It's time

My friends,

I awoke at 4:36 am this morning convinced in my very soul that we have to do something now...each of us...individually and together to reach out to like minded individuals and groups (even if only a group of 2) to change the direction that our society and especially our beloved country of The United States of America is heading.

For too long We the PEOPLE have been dumbed down by those who would attempt to wield power and authority against us.

The latest outrage of our own Dept. of Homeland Security warning local LEO's against God Fearing, Constitution believing, Patriotic, law abiding Americans...even Veterens....has me to the point that I must act.

No longer will I remain on the sidelines....hoping against hope that the majority of Americans will wake up.

I intend to use what little resources and time I have available, to speak out...hopefully with a clear voice (and I know you have all heard and read me rant, at times incoherently) against injustice, oppression, criminality by any who would deny to anyone the rights and protections given to us as individuals by a benevolent Creater (whoever and whatever you chose to think that means) and guaranteed to us under The United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I suggest and urge that you get involved. Do SOMETHING to bequeath to our children...and generations to follow...the rights and freedoms that our forebears and ourselves served, fought and, yes, sometimes even died to protect.

I may not have the answers (if you know me at all you know that even though I might bluster and pontificate for all I'm worth sometimes) but I know that together we can make a difference.

You don't have to individually make much of a difference...just do something.... but together we can change the world.

For the better is my prayer.

Get involved...don't wait... we live in a time now where we can no longer wait, hoping that a divine providence will miraculously take care of things. It's truly said that GOD helps those who help themselves.

May we be Divinely Blessed in our efforts.

Consider the following actions.

1. Join NOW American Solutions
2. Add your voice to the movement to pass the Fair Fair Tax as a replacement to an unfair present tax code and the IRS.
3. Don't be afraid to make suggestion about how things can be made better.

Let's do something.

To you and this Great Country I pledge my Life, my Fortune, my Sacred Honor.

Remember the Alamo

I may just move to Texas.

I might pass out too..

Especially if I was just hearing it put this way.

It's said that there need to be watchmen on the wall, but, what do you do if you're a watchman and no one will heed your warnings. Do you pull an Alamo.....or do you head for the Gulch?

PS. Read some of the comments to this video.

Did you hear this??

It's over a year old......16 months old.

Did you hear it then? Does it put today's events a little bit more in perspective?

What are you going to do about it?

Better stock up. I don't care what you stock up on..........just stock up. Use care.

The thinker

I don't remember who the blogger was (perhaps it was the acidman) who said there were three kinds of bloggers........Stinkers, Linkers and Thinkers.

I'm pretty sure I fall in the first category.....and I'm fine with that. A man must, after all, have some idea about his limitations else he is want to delude himself.

But today I chose to be a Linker.....to a Thinker. And not only to a Thinker, but also a man of words. Words crafted carefully to cause you to think more deeply about things you know already.......or feel instinctively at your core.

Go Here. You most likely won't regret it. And if you do regret it......let me know..
.. I'd like to identify you so we're not likely to meet face-to-face in this life.

Hick-um-ups

Just double damn.

It seems lately that all I do is complain about my feet or strange dreams.

Last night was even worse. I developed a case of the hick-ups about the time I got home from a hard day of treasure hunting, and they lasted 'til this morning.

With the exception of a couple of hours sleep during times when they abated a bit, it was an up and down night. My diaphragm would jerk up and down on the order of once every 15 seconds. I thought when I got up for good about 7am this morning that maybe they were over, but that notion was quickly dispelled by a new fit.

Right now they've calmed. I came and drank a glass of ice water in small sips while holding my breath and they seem to be gone. I'll sneak down a few bites of scrambled eggs and a bit of buttered toast and hope for the best.

The good news is that the worst of the thunderstorms missed us to the north last night. We did have some good hard rain and a bit of thunder and lightning, but nothing like our neighbors to the west and north got.

Springtime in the South......don't you just love it.

Polar Bears and Southern Boys

I suspect that when a polar bear stands bear (he he) footed upon an ice flo he considers it just another spring like day.

On the other foot....when this southern boy sits with his feet on an ice bag, two things are happening....his feet are hurtin' and now they are hurtin' and cold.

Damnation! I think I'll take two tylenol PM and put my feet to bed. Call me in the morning.

I'll let ya know if I have anymore weird dreams.

'Pon th' Dun @ 3:30am

There be more silver atop the ol' noggin now, than blond. My dearly departed mother used to describe the colour of it, in my youth, as dishwater blond. Hopefully referring more to the hue of it, than the fact that at the end of th' day it was full of dirt, grime and sweat from a day of play and work in th' barns and fields of a small (as most were then) dairy, where we lived, and worked, and loved, and fought when I was but a boy.

It sometimes seems that it's easier to sleep in the daylight hours, than th' dark these days. Much dreaming of odd and disturbing dreams of late...possibly due to weaning off of some of the meds.....possibly due to some message being sent, as I've come to believe.

Hopefully not a portend of evil to come, but of good.

More likely due to the influence of the full moon this night than anything else perhaps, for she shines halfway down the western night sky so brightly as to cast a shadow from the trees outside the window.

I thought I'd been prompted to rise and write down the images that were so much more than real in my head a short time ago.

At first I was haunted by a vision of having my truck stalled in the North Georgia Mountains while my children (still small and unruly in my dream, fully grown with families of their own in reality) were running about engaging in all kinds of mischief that I seems unable to keep them from.

Then a shift to a group tour of an ancestral home...perhaps in Ireland.....by myself and relatives both familiar and unknown. A royal place, full of tradition and items of history from many Generations. A royal welcome from occupants whose prestige and glory might have been behind them, but not forgotten.....but embraced, as might befit a house having seen better times, but determined not to forget a heritage proud.

Articles there were, from other times.....small and large. Histories and places of importance to none but family now, as succeeding generations, properly, place more emphasis on the here and now.

I've always been proud of my mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, for they seemed to be people of accomplishment and success, tho' they were but people of the soil for the most part. But then.......by necessity back then....most people were. While not, perhaps rich in money they were rich in land and cattle and a work ethic that provided for the need of them and their families... with a bit left over for neighbors and friends.

Dun

Scroll down to Dun here

Down, Dun, Don These prefixes all evolved from the Gaelic word 'Dun', meaning a fortified place. As Ireland has always had wars, there are many examples of fortified places. Donegal [Fortress of the Foreigners] (county Donegal), Dungannon (county Tyrone), Portadown [Port of the fortress] (county Armagh), Dungarvan (county Waterford), Downpatrick [Fortress of Patrick] (county Down).

Perhaps there is something to my night time wanderings....certainly it means a bit to me....what exactly, is hard to define. Perhaps nothing more than a memory of an e-mail to our family yahoo-group a few years back....

Subject: Re: [Dunagans] Digest Number 347

I used to go to Europe frequently my close friends who were researching their family history in England and Scotland. We spent many days walking through cemeteries and touring old libraries and homes. One year, we decided to make a trip to Ireland since none of us had ever been there. We visited several cemeteries, mostly as a joke, and to my surprise -- and theirs -- we never saw the Dunagan name or any of its many variants.

My friends began to seriously question my "Irish" heritage when we went to the National Heraldry Museum in Dublin and no where did we see the family name on its many displays. Disappointed and confused, I ask the security guard manning a information desk during the lunch hour where I might begin the quest. Something was wrong, and I wanted to find out the truth. Was Dunagan an Irish name or not?

The guard directed me to the National Library just up the street. While my friend and his wife went shopping, I went on a card catalogue hunt. Much to my surprise, an hour or so into my quest, I found a reference to an unpublished manuscript from the 1940's. I asked to see it and after going through the security procedures expected in such a place, I found my self in a small area with a microfilm to read. The original, I was told, could not be viewed.

After reading for an hour or more, I found it was far more than I could digest in one sitting. The writer, a Dunagan of one faction or another, had set forth a rough outline of the Dunagan family (Dunagan is one of the official spellings of the name recognized by the Irish government and Heraldry office; there are many variants as has been discussed in this forum). The author had traced the family to its earliest origins which lay in the fertile soils of four separate corners of Ireland. The earliest known patriarch of the family being Heremon, the 19th King of Ireland, the first of the Milesian line, who ruled for 15 years and 5 months from the "year of the World 2933" (approximately 888 A.D.).

I immediately went to the Library's main desk and inquired as to how I could obtain a copy of this intriguing document. The Head Librarian frowned. "I'm afraid that's almost impossible, " she said. "This is an original manuscript that was commissioned by the Irish Government and without the express consent of the Chief Herald of Ireland, I'm afraid it can't be copied or published. And, unfortunately," she added, "Permission is seldom granted in such matters."

"How do I try and get permission?" I persisted.

"You must file a formal petition with the Chief Herald's Office, just down the street. It could take months to get turned down." she replied smiling.

Back down the street I trudged to the same museum I had left with disappointment earlier that day. As I approached the same guard who had been there earlier, I calmly explained to him my situation. He listened intently and then, without saying a word, rose and departed through a door behind his station. Paperwork, I thought, He's gone to get mounds of paperwork. A few moments later a man comes through the door followed by a herd of others who are primping and pampering him -- one applying make-up. The man introduces himself as the Chief Herald of Ireland and explains that he is about to start a BBC filming but that when he heard my request, he wanted to meet with me.

Taking me upstairs to his office, where his staff had already assembled a flurry of maps and documents, the Chief Herald explained to me that the Dunagan family was all but extinct in Ireland even though it was one of the country's oldest families. Four clans had ruled Ireland as Princes in the early Celtic days. He pointed to maps and showed me where to visit. He outlined Abbeys and ruined castle sites, churches and battlefields. Dunagans are still buried in the walls of the ruined Cathedral of Limerick dating from the rule of Mary, Queen of Scots and Cromwell.

Many early writings give the family history, or parts of it:
The poems of O'Huidrin in the early 1400's praises the family:

Of the race of Conaire [an early Dunagan] the hero
Let us speak, of the Chiefs of Muscraighe (600)
A hoast whose seat is the fine land,
The land of Mairtine of Munster.

Muscraighe Mitine (602) the great
O'Floinn obtained, just in his battle host;
A valiant array who obtain away,
O'Maolfabhail is over it.

Oh Aadna (603) who bestowed cows has got
The wide Muscraighe Luchra; (604)
A tribe of fine and high renown
about the salmon-fall Abhain Mor.

The territory of O'Donnagain, certainly
is the great Muscraighe of the Three Plains (605)
with the host of the flock abounding Iaraam (606)
Host of the sunny land of vowed deeds.

Muscraighe Theithirne (609) the Mighty
Is hereditary to O'Cuirc, as a just man;
O'Maoilbloghain (610) important in the territory
Has tilled the land of fine sods.

Over Muscraighe Tire (615) the warm
Are two dynasts of best nobility;
O'Donghalaigh (614) and O'Fuire also (615)
Of the flesh plain of the flowery smooth border
.

Almost every quatrain of this poem has a reference to one of the four clans of Dunagans who forged early Ireland. Muscraighe of the Three Plains was a territory that King John granted from the lands of Muskerry Donegan to William de Barry. Muscraighe Tire comprises the present Barony of Lower Ormond and a part of that of Upper Ormond in the County Tipperary. The Chiefs of the clans of Tipperary and Waterford were O'Donegan or Dongan, Princes of Aradh, of the race of Heremon. And it goes on and on..

The family has a rich history, no matter how we spell the name today. The earliest known spelling was MacDonnegain or MacDonnegain, angelized to Donagan or Dungan, from the ancient Chiefs of the County of Limerick.

Hey Dick
Maybe we should all change the spelling to the correct way.. DUNIGAN..

My family name is spelled the same back 5 generations. On my gg grand father who came over from Ireland spelled it Dunigan. His death cert had his father Edward listed with the same spelling. If the name was changed it was changed in Ireland. We think they lived in County West Meath, which is in the heart of the country.
Im told there are no Dunigans spelled our way left in Ireland. I also have a old registry of Dunigans from all over the USA by state and by other countries and there are none listed in Ireland.

Just a FYI

that my GGrandmother Pennina spelled it Dunnegan, I
couldn't find her anywhere. The line seemed to stop
there...till I discovered my GGGrandfather George
Washington Donegan, was the father of Pennina. Well
after a brief period of happiness, I was 'stuck'
again. Eventually I found out that George had changed
it from his father's spelling. George's father being
James Henderson Dunnagan. I too have rode the

We need to be reminded of where we came from ......from time to time....to keep us humble sometimes, and sometimes, to lift us back up.

I prefer @ this early hour (4:47 am) to think on the later.

An so....back to sleep for a bit......in the smaller brown rocking recliner, with my Georgia Cattleman's wall rug pulled up over me....for if I sneak back into the bed the wife...sensing my return, will, no doubt, get up at her usual very early hour... and she needs her rest.

Heaven's Booty Call

The world is certainly full of strange, weird people. So much so that sometimes you just have to wonder if earth is the insane asylum for the rest of the universe.

This story out of New York certainly doesn't lead one to think any differently.

"We're missing one person. Nobody can replace that hole," Fausto Rodriguez said.

While I'm sure that her family will miss her...........I'm not so sure that the world in general is any worse off without her.

What do you think was missing in either her brain, or her life that would cause her to do something so stupid??

The sad thing is, that there are others out there, doing the same thing.

Refiners Fire

Some few years ago I stood in front of the congregation of the Ward I was a member of at the time and related a incident that had touched me greatly.

One of the ladies of the Ward and I were talking, and she, knowing of my interest in precious metals and refining, gave me a paper with the following story on it.

There was a group of women in a Bible study on the book of Malachi. As they were studying chapter three, they came across verse three which says: "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." (Malachi 3:3) This verse puzzled the women and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out about the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible study. That week this woman called up a silver smith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest in silver beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silver smith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot--then she thought again about the verse, that he sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.

She asked the silver smith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left even a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silver smith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?"

He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy--when I see my image in it."

I was reminded of that today as I was looking over some Silver Eagles I'd picked up a few days ago.

One of the coins was a Proof coin, and as I looked at it under my loupe, I was impressed by the slick reflectivity of the surface of the silver. Like a mirror it reflected whatever was in front of it....no distortions...only a perfect image looking back at me.

I had to wonder...are these the times that will try us like a refining fire?? Will the image that is eventually cast back at us resemble in any way the vision our founders had for the country they pledged their lives....their fortunes.....and their sacred honor for.

We can only wait and see.

Afternoon thoughts

It's been another rainy day in the 'hood. I'm sure the lakes and streams still need the water....but the contractor who built this house didn't make allowances for the water that runs downhill from the neighbors gutters and right down against the foundation blocks at the end of our house. No sloping of the dirt to keep the water away and running around.......just right up against the house where it pools and seeps underneath to the crawl space.

I'll have to dig up one half the yard to pile it up on the other half. Just damn.

On the other hand, the rainy weather makes for some fine sleeping during the day.

I had to carry a package over to Fedex this morning and then went by Academy Sports to find some decent shoes to walk in. This foot pain from the plantar facisiatis is a true bitch.

I found some New Balance shoes that fit pretty well, but will have to add an arch support to get some support under the middle of my feet.

At least I don't have flat feet.....although then I could go snow skiing with out having to rent skies.

I spent part of the afternoon posting a few things on eBay to start this weekend. Mostly junk but then there are plenty of people who buy junk. They don't pay much for it.....but then I got nothing in it but some time.

I don't want to get to selling too much.....the gov't might force me to take a bailout and then fire me. Of course if I had a $20 million golden parachute that might not hurt so bad.

Finally

After about a week of rain (which we needed) the sun has risen above the piney trees to the east and it looks like a beautiful day ahead. Maybe I'll see if the lawn mower will crank and attempt to whack down some of the fescue which is a foot high in the back yard. May need to call in the seebees with a rome plow. If ya'll don't hear from me for a day or three....send in a search and rescue team.

In another bit of good news......the youngest grand daughter stayed the night. Kept me up till 11:30 dancing to old Dean Martin tunes on YouTube. Finally when she was too cranky to stay up any longer I put her down with her grand mother with the warning to not wake nannie and the pooch up.

She woke this morning with a smile and slide off the bed to go watch cartoons and play with the play doh.

Another good thing to come of her being here was the baking of a pound cake. Little twerp wouldn't share the mixing bowl with me, preferring to lick it all out herself.

Seems that she enjoyed herself.

Economic Stimulus

We can stew and steam and rant and rave all we want, but until enough of us raise our voices and scream "I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE" at Washington, D.C..........doing it everyday and twice on the weekends, they are not going to listen.

If you have not read the Fair Tax Bill, or the Two Books that explain it and it's benefits, you owe it to yourself and your posterity to do so.

Go to the link below, read the petition to the President, add your comments if you feel like it.........and send it on.

I sent along the below comment......do you reckon he'll ever read it??

Mr. President,

I ask you to read and be briefed on the Fair Tax Bill and then Act immediately to implement this much needed change to our Tax Laws. This will allow you to keep your pledge of lowering the tax burden on all Americans and at the same time provide much needed stimulus of the Appropriate Kind to the American Economy. It will also have the effect of making the United States whose Constitution you swore to uphold and defend, the economic powerhouse of the worlds economy, thereby providing stimulus to the whole worlds economy in a very short time.

You can follow this link Fair Tax to a petition to send to The president.

Good God Girty what a Gash!!

I reckon GuyK perty well hit the nail on the head with his rant today..so clicky on over there and get his take on things.

Today was one of those days......you know.....the ones that start on Sunday and end about Saturday midnight.

I almost got up a little early this morning...well, I reckon it was a little early. Somewhere between 6:30 and 7:00. Wifey hadn't even finished heating the hen apple to the temp I like it. I ate that an a couple strips of bacon and then took a nap to let it all digest until almost time to take me and the Ol' Grump up to Jane's Walk in Tax Emporium and Travel Agency.

It's that time of year, when all us law-abiding folk get our taxes figured and see whether we have to send in any, or if the all-provident folks in washington will send us some of that free stimulus money. The Ol' Grump had to send some in and I'll be getting some of your tax money. I can't figure out why, but Jane allowed as how I was pore and all. Thanx

We got back about noon, and instead of taking a nap after eating the left hind leg of that chicken Wifey bought at Wally World yesterday, we saddled up Big Red and rode up to Talmo looking for treasure, and sure 'nuff we found some. I got me a worn out 1881 Ten $ Eagle. Damn thing is near too slick to hold onto and I've gotta decide whether to render it out or put it up.

We then headed back to Commerce City where I found more treasure including a 7 and 1/4 inch long wrist ornament required when wimmen play tennis. It's something about 5 1/2 carrots or something. I think the shiny rocks are for flashing at your opponents eyes so they can't see that yeller ball is coming at they head. Seems like kinda a sneaky way to play to me, but then, those critters in DC don't have no sense of fair play about them neither and everybody thinks that's alright. We're kinda a "monkey see, monkey do" society, and we haf to learn from our betters what we choose to lead us in these perilous times.

I just wondering when they gonna take away the massa's land and give us all a mule and forty acres.......or is that a Cadillac and a chicken in every pot. It's workin' real well in Zimbabwe I hear.

I'll be busy tomorrow separating the yeller from the blue and green.
Saturday I'll get up 'fore the chickens and go to the Indian Artifacts Show in Swainsboro.

Ya'll drop by and see me if'n yore in the area.

Another reason to be nervous

And maybe to begin to rethink some of our foreign policies.

Go Here

It makes one wonder whether we should stop interfering in other countries and simply concentrate on making our own country something that would be so bright and shining that they would want to emulate us instead of cutting our throats.

Reading and noodling

I read with interest the reports of the vilification of AIG executives by congress today. Too funny......first they give with no strings attached 170 Billion,(with a B), dollars to them.....and now they all have their thongs in a wad because AIG paid contractually obligated bonuses amounting to 165 million (with a m) to some of the idiots who got them in a mess to begin with.

If you haven't stopped to do the math, that amounts to .00095% of the original 170 Billion (with a B) dollars they were given by our, oh so prudent, elected servants in washington.

Hardly seems worth all the effort. Sorta makes me wonder what they are hiding behind all this manufactured outrage.

Again reading.....I was not surprised to learn that the wonderful Federal Reserve, today took the following action.......

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday said it would buy $300 billion in longer-term Treasury bonds to help arrest a deepening slide in the U.S. economy, a surprise move that sent stocks soaring and triggered violent moves in other markets.

The Federal Reserve's move, one of several actions taken Wednesday aimed at making it less expensive to borrow money, signaled it will boost the size of its balance sheet to more than $4 trillion. Today's moves double the amount of money the central bank has poured into the economy to try to stimulate economic activity.

In redneck talk what that means is that the Federal Reserve created $300 Billion (with a B) out of thin air and gave them to the government in exchange for the governments promise (as witnessed by elaborate and fancy pieces of paper with a seal upon them) to repay the aforementioned newly created money back over a period of time to include interest, to the Federal Reserve. Money which the government cannot create out of thin air and will therefore have to take by force of law from the workers and producers (those who will be left) in the form of taxes, tariffs and confiscations. Further legally obligating yet unborn citizens of this once Republic for generations to follow.

This must be a good deal for someone........right?

As I further noodle......I realize that my hope of somehow stimulating reasoned discourse here is futile at best and laughable at worst. After 30 years of attempting to influence someone other than myself, I realize that I'm spitting into a hurricane......all I'm doing is letting the wind blow it back in my face. My handkerchiefs are beginning to only smear it around.

There is probably a good reason the VA plies me with various and sundry drugs and therapies.

So I'll shut the fuck up and let people get on with their lives.

A noble undertaking if true.

Maybe I should listen to them..........on the other hand maybe I'll just listen to the ringing in my ears.

I'm going to take a couple of Aleve now.......maybe I'll call them in the morning if I wake up.

UPDATE: Increase the $300 Billion to $1 Trillion (with a T) all created out of thin Air nothing to back it, no wealth created, just electronic entries in a computer somewhere. Our Great Grand Children will speak of us with curses on their lips.

Where Be We??

A good question for a mild Tuesday morning on the outskirts of the Classic City.

Before I go on I must tell you that it is already in the 50's with highs reaching into the 70's today. We've had 3 days of decent rain and the fescue is growing an will soon need cutting. The sun is filtering through the pines to the east southeast of us and will no doubt cause me a bit of squinting til I put on the shades. So there is nothing dreary to cloud my vision or my outlook. I know I'm better off than some people and worse off than others, as is proper considering the choices I've made for better or worse over more years than seems real to me......for at the core I feel I'm still young enough to be hopeful and optimistic, and am really looking forward to the next 133 years. Just think of the things I'll see.

Where indeed are we? A question which occupies much of my thinking on those rare moments when I can get the voices in my head stilled long enough to let two or more synapses communicate with each other.

You don't have to read far in this compendium of rants, ravings, and occasional forays into introspection to deduce that I may be leaning a little bit more to the right than Attila the Hun or Timur-i-ling. I claim to be a Randian Libertarian with a strong love for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, Individual Freedom, Personal Responsibility, and an innate suspicion of anyone or group claiming that "we're from the Government, and we're here to help you".

I read a little each day of the political and economic thinking of several sources I consider to have a little credibility (which leaves out most of the talking heads on the news networks) and I was very interested to read of the following from Roger Wiegand.

I'll paste it here as you may not be moved to click onto the linky thingy. You can read it or not, read part and come back later, or, move on to your morning dose of internet porn......the world will likely keep on spinning around our middle class star some where in the outer reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy whatever you decide. If you care to comment on where you think we are....I'd be glad to know.

On Returning To Our Founding Fathers' Concepts

www.webeatthestreet.com

The United States of America was founded upon the American Constitution and Bill of Rights. After 233 years it appears we have strayed dangerously close to ruination of these ideas. Somebody measured the average life span of empires and said its 250 years. It seems to me if this nation would endure we better get busy reversing our stupid disasters and reinvent 1776. This is not an easy task and it cannot be done over night. However, if the will of the people is strong enough and they can recognize our precarious position there still might be a chance. We can endure going broke and the grinding fallout from our new and Greater Depression. This is what comes next. What we cannot endure is the loss of liberty, freedom and the old American way of capitalism and free enterprise.

The new U.S. Obamination has set us on a path of socialism decidedly pointed toward communism. Our highly regarded salesman president lacks critical skills to lead this country particularly with foreign problems and statesmanship. Give him credit for one honest statement: He told Joe the Plumber he wanted to “spread it around” and that is exactly what he is doing. The Obama budget is heavy on taxes, wasteful spending, pork and the obvious implementation of the Nanny State as practiced with remarkable failure in Europe. And, all of this shows total disregard for the ability to pay the money back using taxpayers’ funds. There is no hope of that whatsoever.

To clarify where we stand and be certain of definitions, (American Heritage Dictionary) please note the following key types of economic and political government:

1. Capitalism: “An economic system characterized by freedom of the market with increasing concentration of private and corporate ownership of production and distribution means, proportionate to increasing accumulation and reinvestment of profits. A political or social system based upon”…these concepts, rules and ideas.

2. Fascism: “A philosophy, or system of government that advocates, or exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through merging of state and business leadership, together with the ideology of belligerent nationalism.”

3. Socialism: “A social system in which the producers possess both political power and the means of producing and distributing goods. Also known as “The theory of practice of those who support such a system. Note this: Socialism also says “In Marxist-Leninist theory, the building, under the dictatorship of the proletariat, of the material base for communism.”

4. Communism: “A social system characterized by the absence of classes and by common ownership of the means of production and subsistence. A political, economic and social doctrine aiming at the establishment of a classless society.

With the Obama doctrine we have moved forward to the last giant step before communism. In our view, fascism has been actively practiced for years by the US government with military forces permanently stationed in over 100 countries. Further, political power has been the hand maiden of big banks and corporations using their shills the IMF and the Federal Reserve. This faction of extreme right idealism has swung the political pendulum to the left inducing Obama’s new socialist state. The last sentence of that Socialism definition says “the building, under the dictatorship of the proletariat of the MATERIAL BASE FOR COMMUNISM.

On Fox News in a recent broadcast, Alan Keyes, a former pol and media type guy said, Obama is a communist and must be stopped. What is your opinion considering these definitions? In our view, the Obama election was more a vote against the Bush-Cheney fascism than a vote for Mr. Obama and his socialist policies. The new regime now has the power as they got the votes. And, as one wag has said, “the voters have spoken and they are going to get it good and hard.” We hope not.

If you agree with the foregoing we are one step from being a Marxist-Leninist communist society. Should this be true and as an American you yearn for the pure capitalism of yesteryear, what can we do to turn the tide and avoid a disaster of an American Communist State and regain our freedom?

Formula for Resurrection Of A Free United States

It has to begin at the ballot box at the grass roots level. Within this nation there remain larger and solid pockets of citizens who love and practice liberty. We can assure you these types are hard to find most anywhere on the politically liberal east and west coasts. Those Kicky-Hip New Yorkers and New England liberals along with our sneering Washington establishment view political libertarians as uneducated hicks who should be relegated to the hinterlands of our lost middle states in this union.

The Kicky-Hips are not faring so well these days with the rejection of their financial mess on the east coast and those fallen liberal angels in Hollywood no longer receiving the reverence they once enjoyed. Phonywood is primarily adored by bored teenagers, inactive housewives, and other socially lost individuals with too much time on their hands and little self esteem. For now, it seems the actors cannot find financing for their $150mm movies. Guess the banksters that funded them screwed-up.

In our opinion the best thing we can do as liberty loving hicks from the hinterlands is to ignore them and deny their pitiful, surreal, fictional existence. We suspect that before this sad financial episode is over perhaps some of the banksters and their political gang members will be arriving at the crossbars hotel. Andrew Cuomo in New York is beginning to get serious. He and his constituents are very angry. And, unfortunately for these banksters, this is where they live and work.

The gun-totin’ Bubbas rural and mid-American are ready to fight and have said so. If this should occur there is nothing peaceful, religious citizens can do but use the power of words and the media. These oral and written tools as peaceful weapons are more useful particularly when used on the internet. We agree with the Bubbas and like them and understand them. But, we would prefer to do things peacefully. Our Washington, D. C. crowd is afraid of Bubba and well they should be.

The anger and distress levels are nearing the breaking point. Should violence breakout, we do not expect Americans, except for the local and state police, would fire on rioters with weapons. New battalions of U.S. soldiers are being formed as the pols and their gangs understand what’s coming. There’s been talk of using UN foreign soldiers for riot control as they would have no compunction about shooting at Americans. We would suggest that if they do it, they will be mowed down like a summer lawn from the Bubba squirrel shooters using them for seasonal target practice. This then opens new doors to further violence and is something to assiduously avoid.

Government is supposed to serve the people not intimidate them. Politicians of all varieties desire power and money. Control of them must be tightened to the extent they clearly know and understand that if they stray one iota from our citizen wishes they are political history. It is time to take back control and use it where it belongs and that is with good, honest American citizens. Most Americans are afraid of big government and this not only, not right but our system was designed otherwise.

How can we change this? We need to implement an internet computer platform containing simple accurate reporting and management of

1. An elected officials’ plan of action. When elected they should be handed a citizens agenda and told to go vote for it, and

2. Keep a monitor, or reporting leash on them to ensure they vote the wishes of the constituents and,

3. Ensure that they do not miss casting any key votes and,

4. We have a measuring yard stick telling us how their votes are helping those they represent and,

5. Should they miss voting on key bills or stray from the plan, they will be publicly embarrassed in front of those they purport to serve and tossed out in the next election.

6. As part of this politician regulation, any pol offering a new bill would first run it by his constituents and attach three bills already in law that must be repealed. In other words to get one new law passed, the pol would have to find three more to toss out (delete) for good. This system would clean out years of garbage and bad bills at a much faster pace. Sadly, once passed into law, lots of the old crap lives on creating expensive problems for years.

7. We reported in our Trader Tracks newsletter last week that 29 states are either involved with or are passing legislation to control the out-of-control federal government overstepping their authority. We find this significant and cannot remember in our lifetime another similar episode. This event signals all is not well in the hinterlands never mind what the two coasts and their Kicky-Hips prefer.

This monitoring system could be designed to foil bad ideas and negative bills from quick, or sneaky approval. While some would go into law anyway, most of the worst would be rebuked.

It would take millions of dollars of investment and a large group of managers to run the operation but this watchdog patriotic citizens organization could use folks from all political parties but they would have to unanimously adhere to the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights with their ideas and votes reflecting their constituents.

Rules and regulations of this Political Monitoring Management Group would by definition mostly drive out those with a socialist or communist agenda. The United States was not founded on “Spreading it around” as Mr. Obama says. The Pilgrims soon learned that community gardens do not work as there always exists a percentage of loafers that ride on the hard labor others. If welfare rules were tougher the numbers of loafers would diminish rapidly.

Those on the dole taking food, shelter, medical services and other perks who cannot find work should have to donate 40 hours of weekly service work to receive these daily needs. Under that type of system, those truly in need would be fed, housed and cared for but they would contribute and earn their way. In our view, most would soon obtain a real job and earn more. Under the Michigan welfare system, there are multiple generations encouraged to exist on welfare. Some welfare relatives are working on their third, generational, 20 years’ receipt of state money in Michigan.

Our Northern Advisor Reviews The Current State Of Affairs

While our Northern Advisor gives us too much credit in the first paragraph below, we must say this man is probably the most intelligent person we’ve had the pleasure to ever know. His forecasting has been uncanny and often contains ideas within ideas and situations no one has even considered. We agree with his prediction that the die is cast and we have no alternative but to grind through years of economic hell designed not only by New York banksters, central governments and their banks; but we also understand social attitudes in the progression of time have produced another bad K-Wave we must painfully endure.

Cycles and time are critical and never seem to go away. There is no escape in our mutual view under the current conditions. It’s going to get much worse.

“Rog...As you know, my thing is forecasting the future. A few years ago it became obvious that the most important input to a future forecast was the influence of the bottoming of the economic K-wave cycle. My focus turned to all things affecting the economy which I was grossly lacking in both experience and knowledge. The learning curve was very, very steep. Much of the help in learning about the economy was the result of our extensive e-mail correspondence the past few years. There is no way I can thank you enough for that jump start on learning about how the economy really works.”

“Stepping back at this point, it appears most of the main negative changes in the global economy are locked in place now. About all that remains is figuring out how deep the depression will be, and how long it will last. With Hussein (Obama) following in the steps of FDR creating more debt in an attempt to fix what is basically a debt problem, there is likely to be the same end result.”

“That is, the current depression will be deliberately, artificially, and forcefully be extended for several years, exactly as FDR did the last time around. Only the economic scale is bigger this time. The last depression extended into WWII, and the global economy didn't really recover back to normal until after WWII.”

“So, my focus on the future will be shifting more to the geopolitical changes driven by the economic convulsions now underway. An extended depression will make stuff even worse. The plan is to analyze the social and political instability caused by this depression, particularly in those nations that would be challengers to the USSA. This means primarily Russia and China, but also the other rogue nations, such as North Korea, Iran, and Venezuela.”

“I am absolutely convinced that the coming global social and political upheavals caused by this economic crisis are going to be, by far, the most important changes that will affect a forecast of the future. Only a major freak natural disaster, global epidemic, or sudden climate change could become more important. (There is) Lots of stuff to keep track of.” - Yer Northern Advisor

We absolutely agree and believe precious metals, currency, grain, and energy trading offer the way out. Personal independence will not be something to be played around with. You will either get tough and handle business, or get smashed and sink with the preponderance of the Sheeple.

Time is ticking and we see the first of the really bad stuff hitting this spring with a very hot, rioting summer. Then, we better cheer-up as fall will be worse. This is no time for socialism. Let’s rebuild America together using the 2010 mid-term elections. We suspect by then the bloom is off the Obama Socialism Rose; its welfare petals squashed in a cacophony of riots, unemployment and hordes of angry unemployed people.

Fuck the Veterans

We'll get them to pay for the budget shortfalls that SPBO and his ilk are causing this country.

Check it out HERE.

I think they should consider that most Veterans know how to use a gun, a knife, their hands and most importantly their heads........seeing as how they didn't loose theirs while some of their comrades lost all.

I really strongly suggest they ponder on that single fact for a long time......
.....Maybe even rent Rambo on DVD since they are so fond of giving movies as gifts.

Democracy or a Republic

Having no qualms about stealing a good idea or thought from anyone, I swiped the below video from GuyK.....and since he gave credit to someone else, I figure he might not mind so much if I borrow it.

This is simple enough for a first grader. I would hope my grandchildren get to see it.

an "end to the old way of doing business."

Do you have any questions about where your tax money is being spenT????

Well in Tax-a-chusetts.......here's where it GOES

I wonder if that HYWIC (high yellow what's in charge) up in the white house realizes how stupid saying things like this make him sound?

To a little girl

I shamelessly have stolen the below link from AD (the Ambulance Driver) with the fervent wish that I could write, or hell, even verbally express myself, half as well.

Often we find ourselves with that need to say more than we can...to encourage and uplift loved ones, family and friends. Words from the mouth are not adequate. Words from the heart have a power far beyond our meager strength.

So go Here.....lean away from the keyboard, maybe have a hanky at hand.

Enjoy.

I've got to learn a new language

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. CONCLUSION

Eat and drink wh at you li ke.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you

Whatta Change

A few minutes make.

One minute I'm outside trying to get the blue out of the yellow, and 10 minutes later I decide that I'm not going back out for a while.

We've not had this much white precipitation in several years. In fact I don't think we even had an accumulation for the last 2 years at all.

But the squirrels are loving it.

The Sparrow

Which I stole from over at Sparrow’s.

Enjoy, and remember.

Rainy Day

It's a rainy day in the neighborhood boys and girls. Actually it rained all night and most of yesterday was either rainy or cloudy.

We need the rain though....although I could do without the pains in my wrists and shoulders that the moisture brings. Sometimes I think that life would move along a whole lot better if we were fitted with grease zerks so we could get a little slickum to the joints to keep out the rust.

Not much will get done with this steady rain keeping me inside. I might go up to the J & J to see if the foreign money guy is there. My buddy James found some Mexican coins in a storage locker and the money guy will buy them at some price. Most aren't worth much as the Gov't's south of the border keep declaring the old money worth less and issue new money at a rate of 10 to 1 or more on the old.....in effect allowing them to pay off debts for pennies on the peso. Just wait until they do that here. I figure it won't be long now. Even if they don't announce it on the boob tube it will happen as they're printing new greenbacks at a rate never before imagined.

I guess if we have any lead we can trade that back and forth. It's gonna be like the Hatfield's and McCoy's around her before long I reckon. Freedom lovers like me can only take so much, and freedom haters never know when to stop trying to take from me. Only one way to ensure that they'll quit and never do that again.
It makes a mess but is good fertilizer.

Just for a moment last night...

...had I not been able to reason.......

.......I might have thought that SPBO (sitting president barack obama) actually understood whereof he spoke.

But that didn't last long.

We still managed to spend more money and pile up more debt, both as individuals and through our government, than ever before. In other words, we have lived through an era where too often, short-term gains were prized over long-term prosperity; where we failed to look beyond the next payment, the next quarter, or the next election.

That's right! The only real and lasting path to prosperity is shedding our debt-centric economy and growing our domestic savings. And the only way to do that is to remind people they have to be responsible for themselves and they can't continue to live at the expense of their neighbors. Let's get rid of Social Security and stop government support of the FDIC and the banking industry. Stop printing money and taking on still more debts to save bankrupt companies. After all, how could we solve a debt crisis by simply spending more money that we don't have?

But then... only a minute or two into his speech... OBAMA! began to promise all of the things every politician promises, namely benefits without any costs. You know the drill: something for nothing. And most importantly, more debt!

The concern is that if we do not re-start lending in this country, our recovery will be choked off before it even begins. You see, the flow of credit is the lifeblood of our economy. The ability to get a loan is how you finance the purchase of everything from a home to a car to a college education; how stores stock their shelves, farms buy equipment, and businesses make payroll.

Wait a minute. While I have borrowed money to buy a house, I have never borrowed money to buy anything else. That's the way I was raised. My parents taught me what their parents taught them: If you want something you have to work hard and save your money to buy it. Isn't that what Americans have done for generations? Isn't that what the hard-working people of Asia are doing right now? And isn't that the real problem? We've spent the last 30 years borrowing money from around the world, to buy things we were too lazy to work for and to save to buy.

OBAMA! went on to repeat the old saw about our dependence on foreign oil. But that's not the real problem: The real problem is our utter dependence on foreign credit. Without all the money we've borrowed from the Japanese and the Chinese, we wouldn't have any cash to buy oil from the Middle East.

And then... at the end of the speech, my favorite part...

How will we pay for all of the spending the government is now promising? The truth is, of course, we won't pay for it at all. We will continue to borrow still more money from foreigners because as a nation we've lost the moral and ethical standards that made us a free people. We tolerate our leaders spinning lies and burdening our children and grandchildren with unpayable obligations. We tolerate our neighbors walking away from their obligations. We allow our government to use the threat of imprisonment to collect tax and then use our capital to support corporations whose managers and owners have acted irresponsibly for decades.

But rather than making decisions based on the sound principles of economics or in the spirit of the American tradition of small government, personal liberty, and personal responsibility, we now have a government that constantly seeks public acclaim and the contributions of special interests. And what does the public clamor for? OBAMA! knows all too well.

In order to save our children from a future of debt, we will also end the tax breaks for the wealthiest 2% of Americans...

We will eat the rich!

Keep in mind, America doesn't currently impose a wealth tax. So... it's not clear what OBAMA! means. But if you want to see an exodus of capital from the United States, try taxing people's net worths. On the other hand, if OBAMA! was speaking of people's incomes (which is much different than their wealth), the highest 2% of American wage earners already contribute about 35% of the government's expenditures. How much more blood can you wring from those stones?

And keep this in mind. OBAMA! is promising to reduce his first year's estimated $1.8 trillion deficit by 50% over the course of his four years in office. But he makes no promise to actually reduce the total outstanding debt, which this year will grow by more than the total government debt in 1982.

Our debts are piling up now at a pace that will leave us insolvent within a generation. We will not cure this problem by taking still more money from the highest wage earners in the country. The more OBAMA! promises, the more money he'll have to print or borrow. (And incidentally, the price of gold will go higher, too – it's already gone from $800 an ounce to $1,000 since the election.)

America is going bankrupt.

Wouldn't ya know

First I go off complaining about my blog disappearing for a little while and then I abandon it my-own-self for nearly a week.

Which in it's self is not too unusual.....I'm often at a loss for coherent thought and am likely to become so engrossed in the antics of others that I forget to let fingers do the walking.....but am never short of breath to talk your ear off in person. I'll often catch my wife rolling her eyes as I go on, and on, and on, and on....kinda like that rabbit with his stupid drum.

Anyhooooo......not so much going on around here. I did a little treasure hunting last friday and spent the weekend trying to separate the dross from the glitter. I hauled some metal for underpinning of the ol' Grumps rental trailer up to Carnesville so the Son and his wife could put it up for him to replace the tattered vinyl that had been there.

Folks....take it from me....vinyl underpinning may look good when first installed, but will lose to a weedeater every time.

For that kind deed I reaped the benefit of the excess metal that he'd ordered. Almost enough to underpin my storage and shop building completely. That's good. I did however learn that bending over and getting up and down does not come as easily as once they did. Forty pounds of excess belly will do that to you.

But I am making headway on my diet. The wife bought me a new set of digital bathroom scales to let me see how much weight I'm not losing. Just Damn.

The politicians are as venal and stupid as ever......I don't even want to think of that much.

I seem to recall that during my brief attendance at Dacula Elementary and High School back during the dark ages the Darwin Theory was brought up and we learned that mankind had steadily evolved from out of the primordial muck and was surely headed for great things......why, we might even venture off this rock and go visit some of our celestial neighbors, setting foot on that big wedge of green cheese we see in the sky at night sometimes.

The men in my basic training unit back in the summer of '69 thought that event was just the first step forward in a giant leap of evolution. That, however, sputtered out less than 10 years later and we've seemingly lost the urge toward greatness that we once had. Devolving into endless partisan bickering and squabbling like a pack of hyenas over the carcass of a, once mighty, now toothless and starved lion. Unable to match him even at less than his prime, they laugh and howl with delight as they snatch rotting bits to sate their grotesque appetites, delighting in his fall, rolling about in the fetid refuse of ruptured intestines and fecal matter, as if to carry away with them some steaming stench as proof of their supposed superiority.

Just Damn, no wonder that I gaze upon and cherish bits of yesteryear.

Wha........What th......

Where'd my blog go??

I click over there to check up on any comments (hardly anyone ever comments 'cept a very few, must be my bad breath) and there is nothing to be seen.

I can click on my archives and it's all there.......so WTH??

It could be that I'm going blind....but if that was the case you'd think it would have happened in my teens or twenties at the latest. Maybe there's a delayed reaction. I haven't had to shave my palms in years.

Don't guess many will miss me.

Think I'll go out and eat worms.

UPDATE; There it is......must have looked at it crosseyed.

545 to 300 million

545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, theFederal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.
The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party.
She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red .

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Why do they do this?

Why do all the talking heads and so called leaders in this country strive so to keep us upset and worried?

Does it get you down at times?

"Do you imagine the universe is agitated?" asked Lao Tzu a few thousand years ago. "Go into the desert at night and look at the stars. This practice should answer the question."

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Lupercalia day Lovers and seekers.

I hope you all are out this evening eating prime rib washed down with expensive wine in the hopes of a chocolate covered dessert when you get home.

Me......I'm sitting her resting my tired ol' feet and thinking about a bed to sleep in.

I was up early (for me) at 5 am in order to go the the Peach State Archeology Society Show in May-retta (Marrieta GA) this morning.

In my never ending quest to garner shekles to pay the green grocer and other tradesmen for some of the necessities and niceties of life, I've jumped in the deep end of the pool once again and opened a website arrowheadantiques.com to move some of the (some would call junk, others fine collectibles) Stuff that I come in contact with. Today was an opportunity to Network as the youngun's say.

I'm always finding something that sparkles, and like a crow, I swoop down and snatch it up to carry away to my nest....where there it remains neither eating nor sleeping, but like the unworthy servant it also doesn't earn any return on the talents given for it.

We had a fine ol' time. Lots of dealers and members from the society. Unfortunately there were few buyers......whether due to the economy, or not enough people informed of where we were, ie, lack of advertising.... to sample our wares.

Still fun was to be had. I introduced young Serenity (all of a grown up 9 years old) to the pleasures of eating lamb, which made her go.........ooooohhhhh, wrinkle her nose up, and then chow back down with a hearty appetite. (Good girl)

One of my pieces of Pottery won the certificate for best pottery piece. I also cleaned up at the raffle held just before we wrapped up for the day, bringing back to the table a very nice Anasazi pot (small but extremely nice), and a replica pipe donated by the Etowah Indian Museum.

So a fine day.

The Missus and I will likely go out for Chinese on the morrow to celebrate at least 42 Valentines days, afterward to waddle back to the Kudzu Grotto stuffed to the gills........and later.....who knows? Maybe somebody will get lucky.

Ideas for a Stimulus Program

1. Payroll Tax Stimulus. With a temporary new tax credit to offset 50% of the payroll tax, every small business would have more money, and all Americans would take home more of what they earn.

2. Real Middle-Income Tax Relief. Reduce the marginal tax rate of 25% down to 15%, in effect establishing a flat-rate tax of 15% for close to 9 out of 10 American workers.

3. Reduce the Business Tax Rate. Match Ireland’s rate of 12.5% to keep more jobs in America.

4. Homeowner’s Assistance. Provide tax credit incentives to responsible home buyers so they can keep their homes.

5. Control Spending So We Can Move to a Balanced Budget. This begins with eliminating Congressional earmarks and wasteful pork-barrel spending.

6. No State Aid Without Protection From Fraud. Require state governments to adopt anti-fraud and anti-theft policies before giving them more money.

7. More American Energy Now. Explore for more American oil and gas and invest in affordable energy for the future, including clean coal, ethanol, nuclear power and renewable fuels.

8. Abolish Taxes on Capital Gains. Match China, Singapore and many other competitors. More investment in America means more jobs in America.

9. Protect Our Right to Vote in the Workplace. We must protect a worker’s right to decide by secret ballot whether to join a union.

10. Replace Sarbanes-Oxley. This failed law is crippling entrepreneurial startups. Replace it with affordable rules that help create jobs, not destroy them.

11. Abolish the Death Tax. Americans should work for their families, not for Washington.

12. Invest in Energy and Transportation Infrastructure. This includes a new, expanded electric power grid and a 21st century air traffic control system that will reduce delays in air travel and save passengers, employees and airlines billions of dollars per year.

Whadda YOU think??

What are you going to do??

I was talking with the ol' Grump at the lunch table today and he said something to me that caused me to start thinking, "Ya know, I'm not so sure this country is in as bad a shape as everyone is saying it is."

To put that in a little perspective you'd have to know that he's 80 years old, with a 3rd grade education, 6 years in the army during the mid-fifties, ran a plumbing business when I first met his daughter (a master card), and was the second ranking plumbing inspector for Dekalb county (GA) when he retired about 15 years or so ago.

Today with about 20% heart function he mostly sits around watching the TV news, or Judge Judy, and whiles away the time sharpening his little pocket knife and watching the great grand children when they come to visit. All that and keeping up with his doctor visits which come about once every 6 months since the wife got his eating habits and medication timing straightened out.

So taking to heart the counsel that "He who walketh with wise men, shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed" I thought at some little length on the matter.

I concluded that if a person had a steady job, or a secure income, this period of time is not very concerning to him. Many there are that have not yet come to the point of fear about the future. Indeed there are many who are optimistic and anxious to see the new days coming. Perhaps we should be asking them for their opinion rather than those who see nothing but Armageddon ahead, or at least would have you think it is coming so as to more easily deceive you, or control you.

Now... if you have just lost your job or had your hours or wages cut back, perhaps you might be feeling just a bit of anxiety. Does weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth get you anywhere......or does rolling up your sleeves and buckling down at whatever work or tradeskill you possess and maybe taking a job that pays less than half of what you used to make and cutting back on some of the un-necessities make more sense?

Me thinks the ol' Grump is not as stupid as might be thought.

Below can be found some ideas to consider.....not mine...but people who council together, whatever their leaning politically, and try to apply principals that work.

Bullshit

The world awaits with pregnant anticipation the implementation of the SPBO's (sitting president barack obama's) economic package and like many another hopeful fool I turned over to his little harangue on many of your local channels last night.

I see many ads on the internutz saying his IQ is 122 and inviting you to come check your own IQ. I have no earthly idea if is IQ is really that high or not. If it is, the last check of mine placed it significantly above his........maybe not...who really trusts those things anyway??

All I know is that I was raised on and owned a dairy farm for a number of years, and I've got damn near 6 decades of bad and good decisions behind me.

Trust me.....(or not).....what I heard last night was BULLSHIT of the finest type. I mean they reached 5 feet up that bulls ass to get the best they could for SPBO to spout last night.

A sixth grader would have more sense than that. Let one do the math (if you can find one that knows how to use a pencil and even let them cheat by using a calculator) and they'll tell you what a load of shit he was spouting.

Just answer me one question. Why has his message of hope and change suddenly switched to Doom, Despair and Agony on Me??

Buy all the precious metals (both shiny and leaden) while you still can. Plan those Victory Gardens now. Start scratching up the ground to put in a few peas and tomatoes.

Just sayin'

Go ....

Go now over to www.velociworld.com and read the words of the mighty lion of the blog-o-sphere, V-man his-own-self.

Stop the Change We Can Believe in

Belief leads one to think of Faith, which, I think it was Paul, described as "knowledge of things unseen".

I'm not from Missouri.....but I've always been of the "show me" persuasion.

Nothing I've heard coming out of the POTUS's mouth has appealed to what little common sense and experience that I have and made me believe the that the so called "stimulus package" of almost a Trillion dollars will help us dig out of the current economic doldrums.

Perhaps......if we could keep some of our own money...or maybe be given some of what has been taken from us.......we could do some real stimulating.

Consider..

Just Sad

After the wife and the pooch have given it up for the night and hit the sack, I come creeping into the computer room in stockinged feet to catch up on the news and activities of some of the other denizens of the world wide web.

I'm trying to flush out the garbage I watched as the Bill O'rielly show was broken into to show the new sitting POTUS addressed the elite of the Dim-0-crit party at their soiree down in Virginia and harranged them to quickly pass his spending bill lest the so called recession (really depression) becomes in reality a depression (really TEOTWAWKI).

All I could find on The Drudge Report was This little tidbit to assure me that our public officials are doing any thing productive at all.

We are not going to allow ourselves to have the sacred roles of women in our society usurped by a couple of plastic women........well, considering the amount of plastic and silicone on TV these day....we may possibly be too late.

Which makes one wonder........why can't a man have a consensual relationship with an inflatable date? Do we fear that some of the ladies going in and out of the Publix would be put out of business and have to start applying for food stamps or other methods of Stimulus ?

Well, we certainly don't want to put law enforcement officials, jailers, magistrates and lawyers out of business. Me thinks maybe this is a time for an enterprising young attorney to do a bit of advertising (trolling) for customers who might have a similar problem with John Q. Law.

Gives me hope for the whole human race, that does.

Cold

Colder'n an Eskimo witch's tit in a brass Büstenhalter.

That's what it felt like around here today.

Of course I know that the states north of here have been colder......but I don't care about them.......they deserve to be colder.....I on the other hand....because of my genteel Southern Nature am like a delicate orchid......beauteous, fragile, deserving of nurturing in a hot house....sprinkled with warm water and fed on bull shit from the talking heads in Washington........Well, 2 outa 3 ain't so bad.

But then, on the other hand, by the weekend it'll be getting up into the 60 degree range or better.......So all you Yankees.....kiss my ring.

“The tide is clearly turning against the

Obama trillion dollar debt stimulus plan.”

—ALG President Bill Wilson.

ALG President Joins Conservative Leaders in Urging Senate to Defeat Trillion Dollar Spending Bill

February 4th, 2009, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today in a letter joined with 18 free market and limited government leaders in strongly urging members of the Senate to defeat the spending bill that “will total some $1.2 trillion when interest is calculated over the next decade, and represents an unsustainable growth of government.”

The joint letter is critical of provisions in the legislation already passed by the House of Representatives, and leaders believe it will not boost the economy.

“The irresponsible expansion of the budget to bail out state governments from their own budget deficits, expand Medicaid, boost education spending, food stamps and unemployment benefits, build federal buildings, provide more for public housing, construct climate change supercomputers, erect trade barriers overseas, create refundable tax credits, and make special interest payouts will not stimulate sustainable economic growth,” according to the letter.

The letter calls for permanent tax relief for businesses and individuals. The leaders believe that “individuals and businesses only change their spending and investment habits significantly when they expect policy changes to be permanent.”

Specifically, the letter advocates “[p]reventing tax increases on individual income, capital gains and dividends, changing the tax code to allow full-cost, first-year expensing for business equipment rather than the arbitrary IRS depreciation schedule, and lowering the U.S. corporate tax rate, among the highest in the world, would yield much more bang for the buck in ensuring a rapid economic recovery than the current package of massive spending with a sliver of targeted tax cuts.

The letter portends that the U.S. “is running the serious risk that it will default on its financial obligations, as the nation's creditors during the current economic downturn may be unable to continue sustaining the uncontrolled growth of spending, leaving the nation in financial ruin.”

The current national debt is $10.7 trillion. That includes $4.3 trillion owed for Social Security, Medicare, and other commitments, and $6.4 trillion held privately, $3 trillion of which is held overseas. 40 percent of the debt held privately comes due this year.

“The only way for the government to pay [the debt coming due] is to borrow yet more money,” the letter reads.

The organizations represented disagree with the idea that additional spending is not necessary to stimulate economic growth.

As an alternative the free market and limited government organizations call upon the Senate to deliver “a real plan for change, to finally set the nation's fiscal house in order, to provide permanent tax relief to businesses and individuals, to free the American people from the boom-to-bust economic cycle, and to at last retire the national debt.”

Wilson believes that the legislation can be defeated in the Senate.

“The tide is clearly turning against the Obama trillion dollar debt stimulus plan,” said Wilson in a statement.

“It is now up to Senators who do not wish to engage in generational theft to stand up and make their voices heard, and vote 'no' on the 'stimulus,'” Wilson concluded.
